Windy and Stormy Tuesday

A major storm system is taking shape across the entire United States. This system will bring very windy conditions outside of thunderstorm winds tomorrow. A wind advisory will go into effect tonight at midnight and run through tomorrow evening at 4pm. Folks need to secure outside items that may easily be blown about in the breezy conditions.

With all of the wind energy in the atmosphere it can only mean one thing. Something is going to blow through the area. Starting late morning into the early afternoon, storms will begin to enter our area. Some of those storms could be severe with the main threat being damaging winds. One thing that could be of concern would be the development of discrete supercells ahead of the squall line. This does not seem to be a major threat currently but will be something that must be monitored over the next 24 hours. Regardless, strong to severe storms will rock Southern Tennessee tomorrow and everyone needs to be on guard.

Finally Quieting Down

Taking a look at the latest radar, more rain and storms are to come through the early morning hours of today. I do believe however that most of the severe weather is done for this round of showers and storms. The weather will clear out later today and maybe even have some sunny skies later this afternoon. More storms will rumble into the area for Tuesday evening though and some of those storms could again be strong to severe. More updates on that round later today. Goodnight all! :)

Storms Enter Area

Stormy Sunday

Strong Storms Tonight

The entire United States is getting ready to enter a rather active period of weather during this week. The weather changes for Southern Tennessee begin tonight. If you have been outside this morning you will notice rather breezy conditions ahead of tonights storm system. Showers and thunderstorms can be expected across the area later this evening into the overnight hours of Monday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has enclosed our southwestern counties of Wayne, Perry, Lewis, Lawrence, and Giles in the slight chance for severe weather. The biggest concern is going to be a chance for some damaging winds. Although large hail and a brief tornado cannot be ruled out. Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms is possible on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall will also be a concern. 1-2 inches of rainfall could fall during the next 48 hours with 3+ inches possible by weeks end. No major concerns of flooding are expected but some brief flash flooding could be possible. Next weekend looks beautiful though with seasonal temperatures and dry conditions. Have a great day!

Wet Weather Soon Takes Over

Below is a brief description of the upcoming event from the national weather service nashville.

A POTENT UPPER LEVEL WEATHER DISTURBANCE WILL SWEEP NORTHEASTWARD
FROM EAST TEXAS, ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY, SUNDAY NIGHT AND
MONDAY...AND PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL IN THE MID STATE. MORE
LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO FOLLOW ON TUESDAY AND
TUESDAY NIGHT, AS A SLOW-MOVING COLD FRONT SAGS SOUTHWARD INTO THE
TENNESSEE VALLEY.

BY MID-WEEK, A NUMBER OF SPOTS IN THE MID STATE--ESPECIALLY
OVER EASTERN AND SOUTHERN SECTIONS--COULD RECEIVE RAINFALL TOTALS OF
3 INCHES OR MORE.

Tropical Storm Richard

Tropical Storm Richard could help to enhance our rainfall chances that will be around for the most part of next week. Lets hope we can start to hamper the growing drought conditions.

Warm Sunny Saturday

A beautiful day is in store for the ST area. Temperatures today will warm into the upper 70's to around 80. Pleasant weather for this time of year. Things are becoming quite dry across the Tennessee Valley however and some much needed relief looks to be coming in the early parts of next week. Showers and Thunderstorms will move into the region Sunday night and will remain in the area for most of the upcoming week. No major outbreaks of severe weather are expected at this time but some strong storms cannot be ruled out at this point. A good inch or two of rain is possible before all is said and done. Temperatures will hover right around 80 through Wednesday before finally starting to cool back off to near normal temperatures. Much cooler weather is in store for next weekend with lows dipping into the mid 30's.
